Selection Process
Complete the Candidate Form and return it to the chapter advisers by date and time indicated on the form. Failure to turn in this form on time will result in your name being taken out of the NJHS selection process. A copy of the form can be found under the "Important Documents" page.
Teachers will evaluate all candidates on leadership, character, citizenship and service as observed in the classroom, hallways and at events. Teachers receive the evaluation forms from chapter advisers. Students do not have to give teachers anything. Students must score 90% of the total possible points from the teachers.
The Faculty Council reviews students scores along with the students' Candidate Forms to determine each candidate's acceptance or non-selection into Walnut Springs' NJHS.
A letter will be given to students with notification of acceptance or non-selection into Walnut Springs' NJHS. Accepted candidates will receive instructions about signing a contract and paying an induction fee ($15) in order to be included in the Induction Ceremony.
Non-selected candidates will NOT be given specific information about the teacher ratings, comments or the deliberations of the Faculty Council.
Accepted candidates (Inductees) must attend a meeting at the end of February during 7th-grade seminar to go over the procedures and practice for the Induction Ceremony.
The Induction Ceremony will be held in early March at 6:30pm in the gymnasium with a reception in the cafeteria immediately following.
